Philadelphia Trombone Week

We are pleased to invite you to the inaugural Philadelphia Trombone Week hosted by the Curtis Institute of Music. This 5 day intensive features the Philadelphia Orchestra trombone section and members of the greater Philadelphia trombone community, along with guest artist Sasha Romero. This program is targeted towards students ages 16 and up to streamline their education into the world of orchestral trombone.

Cost for Tuition: $500

Tuition includes one-on-one time with the faculty, rehearsals with the trombone choir, access to perform in the section play-ins, ability to watch faculty recitals each evening, and 1 meal per day.

There is no accommodations available, but we are happy to recommend places nearby that may be suitable, as well as to connect students looking to room with other participants.

There is a modest fund available, and applicants may be considered for need-based purposes. Please include this in your application.

Sample Schedule:

9:00am: Warm-up class

10:00am: Masterclass

12:30pm: Lunch

1:30pm: Trombone Choir

2:30pm: Section Play-in/Special Event

4:00pm: Lessons/Free time

7:00pm: Faculty Recital

Located in the downtown core of Philadelphia, the Curtis Institute of Music is just 15 minutes from the nearest Amtrak station, and 45 minutes from the nearest major airport. It is also 10 minutes and 20 minutes by car respectively.
